A Perfect weekend in Paris

Paris was one of the first cities I visited on my first backpacking adventure. You could spend just a few days in the many museums in Paris. Some could spend that at just the Louvre. So, it depends on your interest and what you want to see. Which is why I have provided a best of buide and added many different iteneraries from my favourite travel bloggers

Introduction to Paris

Paris, the city of love and romance. One of the world's most popular vacation destinations, attracting families, couples and solo tourists. Paris is known to attract people with charm, style and a sense of sophistication. There is a unique balance between culture and history that you won't find anywhere else.

Best places to visit in Paris

Notre-Dame Cathedral

In the heart of Paris, you'll find one of the most famous cathedrals. Notre Dame Cathedral. The cathedral was founded in 1163 by King Louis IX and Bishop Maurice de Sully. The cathedral is of Early Gothic Style, but later additions were made in a High Gothic Style. The large structures, sculptures and gargoyles will leave you in awe.

Eiffel Tower

As cliché as it is, the Eiffel Tower is a must. The tower is the most visited attraction in Paris. You can take an elevator or use the steps to get to the top of the tower. You'll be making 360 steps to get to the first floor and another 344 to get to the second. Altogether, you'll be walking 1 710 steps before reaching the very top of the Eifel Tower.

Lisa Alexander from the Planet Ware blog recommends stopping on the second floor for a gourmet meal. The restaurant offers a beautiful panoramic view of the whole city, while you enjoy a meal.
Seine River Cruises. Take a sunset boat cruise on the Seine River. Apart from being one of the most enjoyable things to do in the city, the journey also offers visitors a different perspective of famous structures. The cruise will pass the Eifel Tower, Notre-Dame Cathedral and the Louvre Museum.

Best places to eat and drink in Paris

Boco

This little food chain of three restaurants in the heart of the city has three 5-star chefs creating the best affordable meals you'll find in Paris. You'll have a selection of eat-in or takeaway starters, mains and desserts.

L'Ilot

Paris has some of the best seafood dishes in the world. The nearby French ports offer easy access to fresh fish.
Feast on half a crab and dig into a dozen oysters at this easy-going little restaurant in the Marais.

Best Museums in Paris

Le Richer

Located in the centre of Paris in an up and coming area, Le Richer is a must. The fresh and creative blood from young Persians has developed exciting restaurants in this neighbourhood.
This popular café-restaurant-bar has everything. Hang out with friends or family while enjoying a beer and a well-prepared main course.

Musée du Louvre

The most famous museum in Paris is a great stop for any occasion.
The Louvre is well known for its spectacular art. Don't be surprised to see art students sketching the museums' masterpieces. The museum is extremely popular. The queues here are crazy, especially on the first Sunday of every month when it's free entry. The best time to visit the Louvre in the late afternoon.

Musée d'Orsay

A former railway station constructed in 1900 is an architectural beauty.
The d'Orsay hosts the best art collection in Franch, artists incudes Manet, Van Gogh, Millet, Renoir, to name a few.

Musée Picasso

This museum holds thousands of artworks. The location of the museum is in a private mansion in the heart of Marais. The museum hosts over 5 000 works and thousands of archived pieces.

This museum was created as a testament for Pablo Picasso's love for Paris, which is why there's such an extensive collection in Paris.

Best Neighbourhoods in Paris

Le Marais

Le Marais is in an energetic neighbourhood in Paris. The area is filled with boutique, vintage shops and classic restaurants for everyone to enjoy.
The best time to visit La Marais is on a Sunday morning as most other shops are closed on this day. You can find great deals that will your shopping experience so much more enjoyable.

Boulevard Haussmann

The best shops are in the heart of the city in Boulevard Haussmann. From Galeries Lafayette to Printemps department store, this spot has all the high-end shops. Visit Boulevard Haussmann for the best fashion and home décor essentials.
